Ankeney PTO

Welcome

The Ankeney Middle School PTO is dedicated to supporting the educational, vocational, and character development of our students while fostering strong connections between parents, teachers, and the community. Please note that the PTO operates as a supportive organization and does not direct school administration or policy.

All official updates, forms, and announcements will be shared primarily via ParentSquare. Additionally, you can reach out to us directly at ankeneypto@gmail.com or can join our private Facebook group (Ankeney Middle School PTO) for timely updates and quick Q&A. To protect our school community, you will be asked to answer a few quick membership questions to verify that you are a current Ankeney parent, guardian, or staff member.

EXECUTIVE PTO Board Members

Sara Van Woerkom: Sara has lived in Beavercreek for 16 years and is mom to 3 girls: an 8th grader and a 6th grader at Ankeney and 4th grader at Parkwood. She works weekends as a Speech Language Pathologist and occasionally substitute teaches for the district. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching hockey, and drinking coffee with friends. She can’t wait for the school year to start!

The Role of the President: Leads all PTO meetings, must be able to attend all, if not most of the PTO meetings (if the President cannot participate in a meeting, the President must have the Vice-President fill in), creates agendas for the meeting, keeps PTO running smoothly by checking in with other members of the Executive Board and Committee Chairs, sets up PTO calendar with the Principal before school starts, checks the PTO mailbox at least once a week, checks the PTO email, sends any PTO information to the Vice Principal to be included in the monthly newsletter, and a host of other duties that are needed under the position of PTO President.

Anna Myrick: Anna has lived in Beavercreek for 9 years and works in the front office at Parkwood Elementary! She has a 4th grader at Parkwood, a 7th grader at Ankeney, and a Class of 2022 Beavercreek graduate. Anna spent four years serving on the Parkwood PTO Board and is very excited to get to know the Ankeney community, support our students and staff, and help make this school year a great one!

The Role of the Vice-President: The vice president must be able to attend all, if not most, of the PTO meetings. He/she sends any PTO information to the Vice Principal to be included in the monthly newsletter. The Vice President needs to step in for the President if the President cannot perform his/her duties. This may be short or long-term until the existing President returns or a new President can be voted in. The vice president also has other duties that are needed pursuant to the position of Vice President.

Tammie Boggs: This is Tammie’s third year as treasurer and we’re happy to have her back! She is a mom to two kids: a freshman at Ferguson and a 5th grader at Fairbrook. Outside of the PTO, she works as an accountant. She is looking forward to another fun and
exciting school year, and is happy to help make it a great one for our students and families!

The Role of the Treasurer: Must be able to attend all, if not most, of the PTO meetings. The Secretary must find someone to take the meeting minutes if they cannot attend a meeting. Makes copies of minutes and agendas for PTO meetings, takes minutes of meetings, records any correspondence received, submits minutes to the teacher or PTO member who handles the web items for the school to put on PTO web page, keeps Secretary book up to date and organized, checks the PTO email, and any other duties that are needed pursuant to the position of Secretary.

Kristina Heaton: Kristina is mom to three former AMS students and is very excited to embark on another three years with her incoming 6th grader. She is a Substitute teacher and will be spending many days in the halls of Ankeney. In her spare time she enjoys reading and writing, spending time with her family, and traveling. She’s very excited to take on this new role!

The Role of the Secretary: Must be able to attend all, if not most, of the PTO meetings.

The Role of the Volunteer Coordinator: Creates and collects Volunteer Interest Sheets, compiles a volunteer database, and distributes lists either in hard copy or via email to appropriate Chairpersons. Performs any other duties necessary to fulfill the position of Volunteer Coordinator.
